l Dipartimento di Architettura di Pescara ha recentemente instaurato rapporti con le università d’oltreoceano, relazioni che hanno prodotto esiti positivi, visibili in tesi di laurea su territori di estrema povertà.
Il Brasile, prima di tutti, rivolgendosi agli studenti italiani, chiede quale può essere il ruolo delle favelas, come quella di Florianòpolis, quando queste si affiancano a città con vocazione turistica.
Può il tessuto formale interagire con quello informale?
A questo interrogativo si è cercato di rispondere attraverso un workshop, svoltosi a Vicenza dal 6 al 9 Novembre, con l'obiettivo di restituire una nuova identità a territori posti da sempre al margine della società brasiliana, ma che, negli ultimi anni, hanno acquisito una forte potenzialità di rigenerazione urbana.
Al workshop vicentino sono seguite due giornate di studio, a Pescara prima e a Matera poi, con dibattiti sui temi proposti e sulle risorse da destinare a queste ricerche.
Sono state esposte una serie di esperienze didattiche e operative, dall'Africa all’America Latina, che condividono tra loro la volontà di dare maggiore dignità alle vite di coloro che vivono in luoghi frustrati e dilaniati da conflitti politici e da catastrofiche calamità naturali.

Mirando Fave[L]las The Department of Architecture of Pescara has recently established relations with universities overseas, relations that have produced positive results, visible in thesis about regions of extreme poverty.Brazil, first of all, addressing to the Italian students, asks what can be the role of the favelas, such as Florianopolis, when these stand next to a city with tourism purpose.Can the formal tissue interact with the informal?To this question we tried to answer through a workshop in Vicenza from 6 to 9 November, in order to restore a new identity to territories always located on the edge of Brazilian society, but which in recent years have acquired a strong potential for urban regeneration.The workshop in Vicenza was followed by two days of study, the first in Pescara and the second one in Matera, with debates on the proposed topics and on means for this research.A variety of educational and operational experiences have been shown, from Africa to Latin America, who share between them the willingness to dignify the lives of those who live in deceived places, torn apart by political conflicts and catastrophic natural disasters.

Qualche pannello fotovoltaico, un po’ di “verde” qui e lì, et voilà, le développement durable!
Il significato di sostenibilità è oggi una realtà consolidata, ma fatta di caroselli abbaglianti che promettono più danni che vantaggi! A sottolineare i cattivi usi e costumi della moda “green” degli ultimi anni è l’apertura del convegno “Introduzione alla Sostenibilità Certificata” organizzato dall’Ing. Remo Massacesi in coordinazione con il Prof. Enzo Calabrese.
Le più recenti direttive europee chiedono ai Paesi membri di dotarsi di strumenti programmatici e operativi, in grado di perseguire obiettivi trasversali, certificabili secondo processi e parametri condivisi da tutta la comunità tecnico-scientifica.
In aperto dialogo tra architetti e ingegneri, i relatori hanno discusso sui protocolli, nazionali (ITACA) e internazionali (LEED & BREAM), come termometri delle unità minime strategiche: la minimizzazione dell’impatto ambientale dei cantieri e dei suoi rifiuti, la valutazione della prestazione energetica degli edifici con strumenti di calcolo in regime dinamico, la dichiarazione ambientale di prodotto ed il processo LCA per i materiali da costruzione.
Si può parlare di sostenibilità solo se c’è la capacità di mantenere le proprie qualità nel tempo. Non a caso, in inglese il termine “sustain” è il pedale del pianoforte che prolunga la risonanza delle note.

Some photovoltaic panels, a bit of "green" here and there, and voila, the sustainable development!The meaning of sustainability today is an established reality, but made out of dazzling carrousels that promise more harm than benefits!The bad habits and customs of the "green" fashion of the recent years are emphasized in the opening of the conference "Introduction to the Certified Sustainability" organized by Eng. Remo Massacesi in coordination with Prof. Enzo Calabrese.The most recent European directives ask member countries to adopt programmatic and operational tools, able to achieve transversal objectives, certified according to processes and parameters shared by the entire technical and scientific community.In opened dialogue between architects and engineers, the speakers discussed the protocols, nationals (ITHACA) and internationals (LEED & BREAM), such as thermometers of the minimum strategic unity: minimizing the environmental impact of the construction sites and their waste, the assessment of energy performance of buildings with calculation tools in dynamic conditions, the environmental product declaration and the LCA process for building materials.One can talk about sustainability only if there is the ability to maintain the quality over time. It is no coincidence that in English the term "sustain" is the piano pedal that extends the resonance of the notes.

Giungendo dalla città bassa di Genova, quella che conserva il profumo del mare, verso le pendici collinari, un grande complesso residenziale si mostra come un titano dormiente, è il Forte Quezzi (comunemente chiamato il Biscione).Una volta arrivati, si scopre che si ha a che fare con un macro organismo che conta innumerevoli realtà del tutto svincolate dalla città consolidata sottostante.I dettagli costruttivi comunicano una sapienza di cui il Piano Ina Casa si è dotato, affidando ad architetti come Daneri e Fuselli la sistemazione di un impianto densamente abitativo (850 unità).Oltre sessanta studenti provenienti da sei università italiane (Genova, Matera, Milano, Pescara, Roma, Venezia), dopo una selezione, sono stati affidati a sei coppie di tutor: progettazioni interscalari, approcci transdisciplinari, visioni più che soluzioni.Tante e differenti le azioni previste a partire dalla riconnessione fino alla modificazione della tipologia abitativa, con particolare attenzione al paesaggio che diventa performante, così come le modalità di racconto delle idee alla comunità locale: dai tradizionali strumenti di rappresentazione a veri e propri manifesti di un’architettura fatta di sistemi e confronti.

Coming from the lower city of Genoa, the one that preserves the perfume of the sea, towards slopes of the hills, a large residential complex appears as a titan sleeping, the Strong Quezzi (commonly called the Biscione). Once you arrive, you discover that it has something to do with a macro organism that has countless realities completely decoupled from the underlying consolidated city.The construction details communicate a knowledge with which the Plan Ina House is gifted, entrusting architects like Daneri e Fuselli the installation of a system densely residential (850 units). More than sixty students coming from six Italian universities (Genoa, Matera, Milan, Pescara, Rome, Venice), after a selection, have been assigned to six pairs of mentors: interscale designs, trans disciplinary approaches, visions more than solutions.So many and various the actions planned from reconnection until change of the housing typology, with particular attention to the landscape which becomes high performance, as well as the modalities of narrating ideas to the local community: from the traditional tools of representation of a true manifestos made out of architectural systems and comparisons.

“Qual è il materiale del futuro?” Una domanda che non può avere una sola risposta.
L’avanzamento tecnologico in edilizia fa sì che, giorno per giorno, nascano nuovi materiali e nuove tecniche di produzione.
Quello che stupisce, quando si parla di D-Shape e del suo inventore Enrico Dini, è che l’ingegnere toscano in questione ha portato con sé una rivoluzione, creando di fatto una stampante di strutture.
Il materiale utilizzato è prevalentemente la sabbia, che viene stratificata fino a restituire un modello fisico. La Luna è l’ambiente sabbioso per eccellenza, quindi, perché non ipotizzare proprio lì la costruzione di un edificio con una stampante 3D che utilizzi questa tecnologia?
Norman Foster ed ESA (Agenzia Spaziale Europea), associandosi a Dini, hanno intrapreso studi che avanzano l’idea di costruire una base lunare senza dover trasportare materiale dalla Terra.
Il progetto ha lasciato basita la platea del Bordersessions, all’International Tecnology Festival 2013, inevitabile stupore, perplessità e tanta curiosità.

The Trip to the Moon, from Meliès to Foster
"Which is the material of the future?"A question that can not have only one answer.The technological progress in the building industry means that daily, new materials and new production techniques are born.What is surprizing when talking about D-Shape and its inventor Enrico Dini, is that the Tuscan engineer in question brought with him a revolution, and thereby creating a printer of structures.The used material is mostly sand, which is layered until returning a physical model. The Moon is, by excellence, the sandy environment, therefore, why not just assume the construction of a building with a 3D printer that uses this technology?Norman Foster and ESA (European Space Agency), associating with Dini, have undertaken studies that advance the idea of creating a moon base without having to carry material from the Earth.The project provoked the audience in the Border sessions, at the International Technology Festival 2013 inevitable surprise, perplexity and lots of curiosity.
